PDF Shaper is an all-in-one PDF toolbox with a set of useful utilities to help you edit, protect, and convert your PDF files in a simple and effective way. Except for text extraction, the program supports batch processing of any number of PDF documents, including image extraction, PDF to image and Word conversion, as well as PDF encryption and password protection.

The program opens a clear and intuitive interface that shows you icons for the nine tools available in a menu fashion. Text extraction is the first of the options, and the only one that requires you to work on a PDF file at a time. Note that this utility will only work if any text is already present in the original PDF file – the program’s lack of OCR capabilities won’t let you extract text from image-based PDF files (scanned PDFs, for instance). Text will be saved as a TXT file, though you can choose to maintain the original text layout. Image extraction will let you save as individual files any images present in your PDFs. You can load as many PDF files as needed, and the program will save each of the images found using the filename of the source PDF. PDF to Image, however, converts each page of your PDF file into an image, thus allowing you to save snapshots of your PDF pages. Image to PDF performs the opposite conversion process – it turns any set of photos and image files into a single PDF document. This utility supports various standard DIN sizes, and you have the possibility of using a landscape layout and to fill each page with its corresponding image or photograph. PDFs can also be easily converted into Microsoft RTF documents using the PDF to Word option.

PDF Shaper includes a set of “smaller” yet quite useful tools to help you split, merge, rotate, normalize, sign, and crop your PDF documents. Likewise, you will find tools to add and delete metadata to and from PDF files, and to add PFX and owner passwords to them. When it come to PDF protection, you will find a specific option to encrypt and decrypt your PDF files, which will also allow you to add owner and user passwords and to define which actions will be granted permission and which won’t.
